His fellow villagers and fellow soldiers knelt as they saw the hero off on his final journey.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A somber funeral ceremony took place in the village of Korolevo in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zakvisnyk.com.ua\/en\/zakarpattia-news\/berehove-district\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.zakvisnyk.com.ua\/news-of-transcarpathia\/beregov-district\/\">the Berehove District<\/a>. The community paid their last respects to a fallen defender of Ukraine\u2014Border Guard Inspector Sergeant Yaroslav Dovbak, who gave his life in fierce battles in the east of the country.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This was reported by the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">His Combat Career and Final Battle in Donetsk Oblast<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yaroslav Dovbak, with a weapon in his hands, defended the country\u2019s territorial integrity on the front lines:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Military Unit:<\/strong> The sergeant served as an inspector in the 3rd Border Guard Detachment named after Colonel Yevhen Pikus, Hero of Ukraine (Luhansk Border Guard Detachment);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Death in the Line of Duty:<\/strong> The soldier was killed nearly a year ago\u2014on December 10, 2025\u2014while repelling enemy attacks near the village of Karpivka in the Kramatorsk District of Donetsk Oblast;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Long Road Home:<\/strong> Due to lengthy forensic examinations and identification procedures, the body of the fallen border guard was not returned to his native Zakarpattia until a year after his death.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Military Honors and a Community Farewell<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Residents of the Korolivska community and comrades from the Mukachevo Border Guard Detachment formed a living corridor of honor and knelt to greet the funeral procession carrying the body of the fallen soldier.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The funeral service took place with an honor guard and a military band in attendance.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the memorial service, Lieutenant Colonel Dmytro Cherevichenko, head of the social support department, presented the grieving mother of the defender with the Ukrainian national flag, which had covered her son\u2019s coffin, as well as a green border guard beret\u2014symbols of the valor, military honor, and the self-sacrifice of Sergeant Yaroslav Dovbak.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our sincere condolences go out to the soldier\u2019s family, loved ones, and comrades-in-arms.
