Thanks to the prompt assistance of paramedics, the patient was saved from a fatal outcome.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another case of a severe adverse reaction caused by uncontrolled medication use was reported in Zakarpattia. The ambulance dispatch center received an emergency call from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zakvisnyk.com.ua\/en\/zakarpattia-news\/tiachiv-district\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.zakvisnyk.com.ua\/news-of-transcarpathia\/tyachiv-district\/\">the Tyachiv district<\/a>: an elderly woman suddenly began to struggle to breathe after taking medication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the Transcarpathian Regional Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine, the critical condition was caused by routine self-medication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rapid swelling and a life-threatening situation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After experiencing a sore throat, a 67-year-old woman from Transcarpathia decided to \u201ctreat\u201d herself with an antibiotic without consulting a doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Shortly after taking the medication, the woman\u2019s condition deteriorated sharply:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>rapid swelling of the soft tissues of the face, lips, and larynx began;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>her upper airways became blocked, causing severe shortness of breath and suffocation;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>she experienced a severe sense of oxygen deprivation and panic.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The symptoms indicated <strong>anaphylactic shock<\/strong>\u2014an extremely dangerous, immediate-onset systemic allergic reaction that, without the urgent administration of epinephrine and hormonal medications, can lead to respiratory and cardiac arrest within minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rescue by the Emergency Medical Team<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An emergency medical team led by paramedic O. P. Mykhailo arrived promptly at the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The medical team reacted immediately:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>they performed a series of anti-shock resuscitation measures and administered the necessary medications to relieve the airway spasm;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>stabilized vital signs\u2014blood pressure, pulse, and blood oxygen saturation;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>transported the patient to the Tyachiv District Hospital for further inpatient treatment and monitoring.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The woman\u2019s life is no longer in danger, and her condition has been brought under control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Dangers of Uncontrolled Antibiotic Use: Expert Advice<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Healthcare professionals emphasize that the thoughtless use of strong medications is one of the main causes of sudden critical conditions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Antibiotics do not work against viruses.<\/strong> Most seasonal respiratory infections and sore throats are viral in origin, against which antibacterial drugs are completely ineffective, yet at the same time they create a massive toxic and allergenic burden.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>An allergy can develop at any time.<\/strong> Even if a person has previously taken a specific medication without any complications, the body may have become sensitized later on.
