Drug-Impaired Driving and Driving Without a License: A Mazda Driver in Mukachevo Faces a Fine of Over 74,000 hryvnias

A driver whose license had been revoked by a court got behind the wheel again while under the influence of substances and refused to go to the hospital for a medical examination. Patrol officers issued two administrative citations for repeat violations.

In Mukachevo, patrol officers held a repeat traffic offender strictly accountable. The driver of a Mazda not only ignored a court order revoking his driver’s license but also drove on city streets while showing clear signs of being under the influence of drugs.

This was reported by the Patrol Police Department in Zakarpattia Oblast.

Stopped on Shevchenko Square and Refused a Medical Examination

The incident occurred yesterday evening in the city center. A patrol crew noticed a Mazda on Taras Shevchenko Square whose driver had committed a traffic violation and pulled the vehicle over.

While checking the driver’s documents, the officers noticed his erratic behavior, constricted pupils, and slurred speech, which indicated possible drug use. The man was officially offered the opportunity to undergo an examination in accordance with the law at a specialized medical facility, but he categorically refused the examination.

Repeat Offense and Fines Totaling Over 74,000 UAH

After checking the citizen’s records in the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ databases, the inspectors discovered that the offender had already been stripped of his right to drive due to previous offenses but had deliberately ignored the court’s ban.

Two administrative reports were filed against the offender, each carrying severe penalties:

  • Part 5 of Article 126 of the Code of Administrative Offenses—repeated driving of a vehicle within one year by a person whose license has been revoked (carrying a fine of 40,800 hryvnias and revocation of the right to drive for a term of 5 to 7 years);
  • Part 2 of Article 130 of the Code of Administrative Offenses—repeated driving while intoxicated within one year or repeated refusal to undergo a medical examination (punishable by a fine of 34,000 hryvnias and a 3-year suspension of driving privileges).

The total amount of fines under both articles is 74,800 hryvnias. The man was once again barred from driving, and all the administrative case files were forwarded to the court for consideration.
