The woman managed to get the livestock out of the burning barn, and neighbors rushed to the scene with water before the firefighters arrived. Fire crews from Mukachevo extinguished the flames, which covered an area of 90 square meters.
A serious nighttime fire nearly destroyed a private home in the Mukachevo District. In the village of Medvedivtsi on Molodizhna Street, adjacent outbuildings caught fire. Only the decisive actions of the owner and the prompt response of the State Emergency Service units helped prevent casualties and stop the flames from spreading to the residential home.
Details of the firefighting operation were reported by the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Zakarpattia Oblast.
Rescuing Livestock and Joint Firefighting Efforts
The fire broke out yesterday in the late afternoon. The farm owner noticed thick smoke and open flames in the farm buildings. Without wasting any time, she dialed the emergency number “101.”
While the fire trucks were on their way to Medvedivtsi, the owner showed great courage and managed to get all the livestock out of the barn to a safe distance in time, saving her animals from perishing in the smoke. At the same time, concerned neighbors rushed to help and tried to contain the fire using buckets.
An hour and a half of fighting the fire saved the home
By the time the on-duty crews from the Mukachevo State Fire and Rescue Units arrived, the fire had reached dangerous proportions. The flames had completely engulfed the shared roof of three adjoining structures: a barn, a farm building, and a summer kitchen.
After deploying their hoses, State Emergency Service firefighters set up a water supply to protect a residential building that was under direct threat from the flames. After an hour and a half of intense work, the firefighters completely extinguished the fire, which had spread over an area of 90 square meters.
The fire had already destroyed the roofs and floors of three structures across the entire area and damaged the summer kitchen. Thanks to the firefighters’ professionalism, the residential building was preserved intact.
No people or animals were killed or injured as a result of the incident. The cause of the fire and the extent of the property damage are being determined by the relevant authorities.
