He’ll always be 18: Serhiy Pigor, a UAV operator from Vynogradiv, was killed while on a combat mission in Zaporizhzhia

A young soldier joined the ranks of the Defense Forces as soon as he came of age. His life was cut short by enemy shelling near the village of Shyroke in the Polohy sector.

The Vynogradiv community is mourning a grievous and irreparable loss. A young man from Transcarpathia—Serhiy Viktorovych Pigor, a drone operator—is returning to his homeland “on a shield,” having given his life in the battles for Ukraine’s sovereignty and independence.

The Vynogradiv City Council officially announced the defender’s death.

The young defender’s journey and final battle

Serhiy Pigor was born on June 15, 2008. He made the decision to defend his homeland at an exceptionally young age—as soon as he turned 18, he set out to defend the country:

  • Military specialization: Serhiy mastered one of the most in-demand, high-tech, and at the same time risky specialties in modern warfare—he served as an operator of strike and reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs);
  • Killed on the front lines: The tragic incident occurred on October 27, 2026. While carrying out a combat mission near the village of Shyroke in the Polohivsky District of Zaporizhzhia Oblast, his unit’s position came under heavy enemy fire. The injuries the young man sustained proved fatal.

Eternal respect and the community’s grief

His comrades remember Serhii as a fearless, sincere, and dedicated comrade who, without hesitation, fought alongside his senior comrades.

We express our deepest condolences to the parents, the entire family, loved ones, friends, and comrades-in-arms of Serhiy Pigor. There are no words that can ease the grief of losing a child who had his whole future ahead of him.

May the memory of this Hero of Ukraine live on, and may he be eternally honored! Forever in the ranks!

Information regarding the date, time of the funeral procession, and burial service will be announced at a later date.
