A nighttime drive through the city without a seatbelt resulted in two administrative citations and the revocation of the driver’s license.
In Mukachevo, patrol police officers pulled over a car driver who had gotten behind the wheel while heavily intoxicated.
This was reported by the Patrol Police Department of Zakarpattia Oblast.
Reason for the stop and breathalyzer test
During a night patrol on Pryashivska Street, a patrol crew noticed a VAZ vehicle whose driver was violating traffic rules—he was not wearing a seatbelt.
After pulling the vehicle over for inspection, the officers detected a strong smell of alcohol on the driver during their conversation and also noted slurred speech and impaired coordination.
The man was asked to take a field sobriety test using a certified Drager breathalyzer. The breathalyzer result was staggering—2.01 per mille, more than 10 times the legal limit (0.2 per mille).
Administrative Liability
The police immediately removed the intoxicated driver from the vehicle and prepared the relevant administrative documents:
- a report under Part 1 of Article 130 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or other intoxicating substances);
- a ruling under Part 5 of Article 121 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (violation of the rules regarding the use of seat belts or motorcycle helmets).
For drunk driving, the offender faces a fine of 17,000 hryvnias and a one-year suspension of his driver’s license. The administrative case has been referred to court.
