The car lost control, veered off the road, and ended up directly in the water. The injured driver, who suffered leg injuries, was rushed to a hospital in Mukachevo.
A traffic accident in the Mukachevo district nearly resulted in fatalities. The driver of a passenger car lost control on a difficult stretch of road, causing the vehicle to veer off the roadway and plunge into the riverbed.
All emergency services—ambulance crews, State Emergency Service rescuers, and police officers—were promptly dispatched to the scene to rescue the person and address the aftermath of the incident.
Rescue of the Driver and Hospitalization
The first to arrive at the scene of the accident was Emergency Medical Service Team No. 711, led by paramedic M. M. Shelelo.
Despite the dangerous fall into the body of water, the driver survived:
- The driver’s injuries: The 52-year-old man sustained injuries to his limbs, specifically closed contusions of both knee joints;
- First aid: The paramedics promptly administered pain relief, provided emergency care, stabilized the patient’s condition, and immobilized the injured areas;
- Hospitalization: The man was promptly transported by ambulance to the Mukachevo Hospital for a comprehensive inpatient examination.
State Emergency Service personnel carried out a series of measures to remove the vehicle from the water and disconnect the car’s battery to prevent a fire.
Warning for Drivers on Coastal Road Sections
Emergency medical personnel and rescue workers are once again urging drivers to exercise greater caution while driving on Transcarpathian roads:
- be extremely careful on sections near bridges, dams, riverbeds, and sharp turns;
- strictly observe speed limits and take into account moisture levels and road surface conditions;
- do not get distracted by electronic devices while driving—a split-second lapse in attention near a body of water poses a direct threat to life.
