Discounted Public Transportation in Uzhhorod: The First Neighboring Community Will Pay Compensation for Its Residents (Video)

Uzhhorod received compensation for the first time from the budget of a neighboring community for transporting passengers in eligible categories.

The Uzhhorod City Council signed a memorandum to that effect with the Onokivska territorial community. Vitaliy Gotra, a member of the Uzhhorod City Council, shared this information in a comment to the Zakarpats’kyi Visnyk.

What does this mean for passengers and the city?

Convenience for residents: Residents of the Onokivska community who have discount cards will be able to ride Uzhhorod’s municipal and private public transportation for free—all they need to do is validate their card upon boarding.

Transparent Accounting and Funding: Thanks to electronic trip tracking, the city will know exactly how many passengers with reduced-fare status are transported and will receive compensation from a neighboring territorial community as part of intermunicipal cooperation.

The Onokivska community was the first to sign such an agreement with Uzhhorod. It is expected that other neighboring territorial communities will soon join the initiative.
