The Uzhhorod City Council held its regular session. Anton Livrints, a member of the Uzhhorod City Council and deputy chair of the Social Affairs Committee, spoke about the key decisions adopted by the council members, as well as important legislative initiatives in the social sphere.
According to Anton Livrints, a series of important decisions were adopted during the session to ensure the city’s vital functions and the proper operation of the budgetary sector.
Social Support for Uzhhorod Residents
As always, the Social Committee’s focus remains on providing assistance to local residents and the families of Ukrainian defenders:
- Assistance to the Families of Fallen Soldiers: Financial assistance has been approved for the families of fallen defenders.
- Support for the seriously ill: Funds have been allocated to provide financial assistance to seriously ill Uzhhorod residents who require expensive medical treatment.
Important Legislative Changes for Military Personnel
The deputy chair of the social committee emphasized that providing comprehensive assistance to Ukraine’s defenders is a priority for city authorities. Anton Livrynts also commented on the Verkhovna Rada’s adoption of Bill No. 13704, drafted by experts from the “Batkivshchyna” faction, which members of the Uzhhorod City Council had previously called for:
“New guarantees are now in place for service members undergoing treatment and rehabilitation. These include the continuation of financial support, as well as payments based on rank, position, and years of service. Additional monthly payments ranging from 50,000 to 100,000 hryvnias are also provided for in cases of severe injuries, captivity, or being listed as missing in action,” Anton Livrints emphasized.
Key changes and guarantees for military personnel:
- Long-term treatment: Treatment covered by the state may now last more than 12 months (including treatment abroad).
- Remote Medical Board: Service members undergoing treatment abroad may undergo a military medical board examination remotely. Returning to a military unit without the appropriate medical board conclusion is prohibited.
- Prosthetics: Service members now have the right to independently choose their prosthesis, specialists, and the manufacturer, with the state providing full reimbursement of the cost.
- Limb Preservation: The law establishes the priority of preserving the health and limbs of service members during medical procedures and rehabilitation.
