High-tech equipment will bolster the 1200 team during long-distance transport of critically ill patients to regional hospitals. The upgrade was made possible with the support of donors.
The Rakhiv Emergency Medical Service (Team 1200) has added a Hamilton T1 expert-class portable ventilator to its technical arsenal. The new equipment is designed for resuscitation procedures and prolonged respiratory support for critically ill patients.
The Rakhiv Emergency Medical Service of the “Transcarpathian Regional Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine” reported on the technical upgrade of the mountain medical service.
Strategic Importance for the High-Mountain Region
The Rakhiv district is the most remote from the regional center of Transcarpathia, and the journey to specialized high-level hospitals in Uzhhorod or Mukachevo requires traversing significant mountainous distances and takes a long time:
- Continuous respiratory support: The Hamilton T1 ventilator is specifically adapted for extreme transport conditions and provides a full cycle of lung ventilation for both adults and children;
- Safety of inter-hospital evacuations: the stable operation of the portable system allows doctors to monitor the patient’s gas exchange and vital signs throughout mountain routes spanning many kilometers.
Support from donors and development of infrastructure
The acquisition of the portable ventilator was made possible thanks to the systematic efforts of the “Transcarpathian Regional Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine” (103 Transcarpathia) and a significant contribution from the PrivatBank Charitable Foundation.
Medical staff at the Rakhiv station expressed their gratitude to the center’s management and donors for their care for the staff and for regularly updating the equipment. The availability of such equipment significantly improves the chances of survival for patients with acute cardiological, traumatic, and neurological conditions in remote mountain communities.
